I’m lucky to be a part of a workplace where I can dress up or dress down on any given day. Depending on my mood, my outfits during the work week range from very casual to business casual. Dark pants, trendy loafers, and a comfy sweater are staple combinations for me during the winter. If the sweater or top is more basic, I’ll usually dress it up with a scarf, pretty hair style, winged eyeliner, or jewelry.
I’ve always had an obsession with chestnut and camel colors as accents to my outfits. The amount of handbags, belts, and boots I’ve gone through that are those two colors is absurd. (Read: I’m very guilty of owning a number of chestnut Uggs over the years) This is the first time I’ve ever invested in an actual piece of clothing this color, though. When I tried it on in the dressing room, I thought it would clash with my hair but I actually loved how well it emphasized my highlights.
What won me over immediately about this top were the ruffles. You’ll soon notice that I’m a huge fan of ruffles, flare sleeves, and all current cutesy and classic trends as opposed to sexier looks. Like, I don’t typically find myself in awe of the Kardashian’s style. Rather, I idolize women like Olivia Palermo, Victoria Beckham, and Miranda Kerr as my style icons. Believe me, I plan to discuss more about this very soon!
For now, I want to talk more specifically about this wool J. Crew sweater that I got for half the price thanks to a special sale on clearance items. First, it runs on the small side. I would recommend sizing up for a comfier fit or if you have a long torso. It pairs perfectly with denim jeans or pixie work pants alike. You can’t see here, but I wore cheetah print flats with them. I’m including a dupe from J. Crew below. What I low key love about the jeans I wore with this outfit is the trimming and back pocket details were camel color threading, so match game was on point! I know most people don’t obsess about the little details, but in this case it tied the outfit together so well that it’s worth mentioning.
